    I was at work one day and a customer dropped a pair in for me, in the box. Brand new. He has heaps of them for hire bikes. Won’t sell them as they were a gift.

    I’ve gone back to using thumbies using Paul Components mounts and Dura-Ace bar end shifters – nice and simple! Can’t say I’ve missed the SLX pods I’ve been using for years.

    They’re more readily available than you might think, particularly if you don’t mind second hand. It actually took a little while for me to sell some refurbed DX ones on Retobike last year and they went for about 20 quid.

    I got some XTs in a collection of retro parts I bought quite cheaply. Sold all the other bits for a profit so my XTs have earned me about £20. 🙂

    OK in a glass box for nostalgia purposes but not on a bike.

    They were superceded for a reason!

    XT’s much better as the Deore brackets bend.
