    can anyone tell me …

    does 2 x 900Lumen lights give twice as much light, or does it not work like that?

    I'm thinking of batteries – parallel/series kinda thing – i'm not a physics guy so am confused.

    yes – but your eyes don't always respond in that way as beyond a certain level of light your eyes get less sensitive to it. Depends on beam shape as well.

    Twice as much light but may not be twice as good to see by
