I have to say I wasn't even aware that Halfords even serviced cars but the wife has a company cat and she was told to take it there... They collected the car, serviced it and returned the car in good time.
Next day she was travelling down the motorway and the oil lamp came on luckily by a service station, looked under the bonnet and the engine was covered in oil....
They hadn't put the oil filter on correctly.... Nice one

I went to Halfrauds the other day, for some Finish line grease.
I noticed they had a workshop bay, i said to my mate 'Would you dare trust them with your car'

In halfords defence the Brother-out-law manages one of their service centers and was recently offered a job doing concours restoration on old mercs so know's his cars inside out.
And the highly recomended local garrage that fettled my MG for it's MOT completely ballsed everything they touched.
The garrage I bought my focus from I took it back 3 times to get the stereo fixed, after that I gave up with it as no one ever sits in the back anyway so gettign the music back there is more haslte than its worth.
Some garages are good, some might not be so good.
Never mind all this car talk lets focus on the company animals.......
New starter perk?
My works van went into Halfords to get serviced when the local Pug dealer was fully booked. Came back and said that the disks and pads needed replaced so they had done it at the same time as the service.
Picked up the car later that day, brakes squeaking like mad and the engine management light was on. Jacked the van up and removed the wheels, they hadn't used any copper grease and had also left two sensor plugs disconnected causing the engine management light.
Won't be going back.

Garage in making mistake shocker. A friend of mine had his car, not cat, serviced, at a main dealer and they forgot to put any oil in the engine - one cooked engine after a long motorway drive.
I would say it's pretty unfair to tar all halfords with the same brush because one outlet makes a mistake. They don't hire sub standard mechanics and tell them to **** up you know, people make mistakes, get over it.
And if halfords is that bad why do the moaning idiots shop there?

Please make sure you SPELL correctly when trying to bash someone/something.
Also, its all down to the people working in the shop or garage you go to. **** the brand name on the door. Halfords are great - moan enough and they'll give you the moon on a stick.
in other news, I once went to a shit local garage who tried to rip me off. I've also had good service for my bike at halfords.
there's a reason they're a multi million pound business in profit, and I bet you're part of it.
Halfords have been in the service business for years.
Like anywhere it is possible for a human to make an error and something to get broken. Thats why businesses and people have insurance and hopefully they will clean up the mess.

I would guess that the staff are "fitters" rather than mechanics...
They bought Nationwide Autocentres a couple of years ago. Most of their sites are just run as they always have been, just with an orange and black logo.
