    You lot always seem to know what the score is: I need a new 40″ led/LCD TV and sound bar. Sports mainly and kids DVDs or bluray. Not seeking massive h fidelity or 3D.

    Not a Samsung…

    Probably a Panasonic.

    I have a 40 inch Sony W9 – picture is very nice but the edge-lighting doesn’t give a totally uniform backlight if you have the lights down – and its one with the flashy local dimming nonsense.

    Buy “what hifi” – they have a home cinema section / comparisons etc. it’s worked for me in the past

    Samsung was my choice after spending ages looking UE40F8000 model IIRC.

    It’s an outstanding picture.
