Hi, i’ve just fitted a new Hope ceramic bb. Just spinning the crank causes it to make a slight grinding noise and it isn’t spinning as freely as I would expect. Is this normal for a new bb? Does it just need running in?

mine did this when i put some grease on the threads etc, seemed to disappear after a short while….woudlnt fret….should sort itself out!

mine grinds and grinds once a bit of mud/water gets near, but it clears itself once you get going again…

Sure you haven’t over-done the preload? Grinding and bearings should not be accompanying one another.

i found it was the plastic dust cover spinning in its retaining groove

+1 for the plastic dust shroud. Take ’em out and give ’em a clean. Worked for me.

my new ceramic hope bb creaks like **** no matter how much grease i put in it…ive always ran ss bb’s with enduro bearings without a squeak, treated my self to an expensive one and wish i hadn’t when i hear that noise, yet another strip down clean regrease and re fit this weekend to cure the noise!
