i have the course profile
I shouldn't laugh, but that was actually quite funny

I don't think you will need a map, you just follow everyone...

The river jump is back for this year!

Thanks for posting that, Oggles. Any chance you could do it in red so it's easier to see ?
Counting some of the marshalling points twice because they look like they are between where the course doubles back on its self, I take it the route is;
From bottom left
M1
M2
M3
M4
M5
M6
M12
M11
M7
M11
M10
M9
M7
M8
M7
M6Is that right ?

It's not my map
I just got the link in an email this morning! I was thinking the same thing though, why is it blue?
Posted 11 months ago # -
if its wet, this is a reasonable approximation of the course.

hth.

That course goes from m1 -> m12 in order. If you zoom in you can see (ctrl and mouse wheel)
Posted 11 months ago # -
I thought that would be more logical.
So what happens at M6 then, is there a bridge ?Posted 11 months ago # -
Gap jump.
Posted 11 months ago # -
That map is wrong. M1 is half way up a hill. It can't be the start.
The start is usually around M6.
It looks more or less like last year other than some odd stuff going on. The labels look wrong though.

^ start usually round M5 I'd have thought.
Posted 11 months ago # -
No, the wiggle bit (M1 mark at the top) is the time trial thing (the first climb). You get to that after a long straight run down the valley from the start.
M5 is where you come back into the infield part way through the lap (after the loop around the tree with the lake to your left).

M1 is not the start, it's just the first remote marshal point.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Start is usually in the field at the bottom right. There is a gap in the course marking line there which makes sense. That's also where the arena is this year.
If you download / open the image in a new tab you can see it full size...

u mean bottom left
Posted 11 months ago # -
last time I went, start was nearer the lake/pond. was a few years ago though
Posted 11 months ago # -
Bottom left is the start/finish line and by looks of it they have changed the course again
Posted 11 months ago # -
bottom left, u can see where the timing beam tent will be, start is just up from that (well has been the last two years)
Posted 11 months ago # -
That's an odd course. First half looks a doodle, second half looks an utter swine. Are they running it backwards or did I get my lines crossed.
Arse - I'm not riding this year....
Posted 11 months ago # -
we have more marshal points than that and our courses are <5 Km
Posted 11 months ago # -
u mean bottom left
What did I say?
Yes bottom left.
long day...
Posted 11 months ago # -

You must get a lot of laps in in 24 hrs.Posted 11 months ago # -
we will not run a night event, too much risk of a "touching the void" moment on the night laps

M6 to M7 is all up hill, getting gradually steeper and steeeper as I remember, was the way back in to the start/finish arena last year as I remember, looks like a fairly good course, too flat for many of the people on here but plenty hilly enough for the rest of us. Will be fitting the Razers this weekend as it's going to be dry and dusty
Actually more like M5 to M7 all uphill as its a gentle climb through the campsite

too flat for many of the people on here but plenty hilly enough for the rest of us
Something like 1500' feet a lap wasn't it? The only people it is too flat for are people who don't actually ride a mtb, just pretend they do on the internet
Posted 11 months ago # -
Crossing point at M6!!! That could get interesting with riders haring down the hill to the start / finish....
Posted 11 months ago # -
No prizes for guessing the places where people will be cutting the course this year then
Posted 11 months ago # -
Will be fitting the Razers this weekend as it's going to be dry and dusty
Not seen the forecast then? I've dug out the 1.5" Black Sharks
There'll be a bridge if there's a crossing point, it's not actually going to be a flat crossing, although that would be funny!

hmmm, I'll believe that when i see it!

Since Eastnor is right on my doorstep, im going to try this out secretly. I'm doing solo this year.
The course looks easier as I know the gradient around eastor. The climb from M6 to M7 should be the hardest part.

The course is interesting.
It appears to be:
Same start as last year - along the river then up the hill.
Along fire road to where the gorilla was a couple of years ago.
Turn back into Singletrack and continue to the gravelly death slide fire road out onto another climb
The new super boggy and twisty bit that was in last year
Climb up to end of woods across grassy field
Down rocky/slippy fire road alongside fence
Down to arena, across bridge and up to the opposite corner of the field.
Up the mega long climb all the way to the obelisk - we last went up here in 2006.
Over the back, round a few fire roads and trails, then up to the house at the top of the land rover climb
Down through Somme woods and nice Singletrack
Climb back up to obelisk on grassy fire road
Descend all the way down, partly on grass partly on trails.Looks bloody hilly.

I've just checked the weather forecast.
Plenty of time for that to change. I hope.
