I’ve done a few Sportives in the past and one of the great things about them is that everyone rides along and chats. Very social.

I did the IoM E2E today and christ there are a lot of miserable buggers out there. I tried to get some chat going, but it was almost no use. It’s not like we’re talking about the “sharp end” of the field, I set off almost last and anyone I was riding with were really just there for a bit of fun.

    LIGHTEN UP FFS!!!!

Must just be the people or vibe of that event. I like having a bit of chat with most other racers, unless I’m going full throttle.

why do people think that just because you have a bicycle in common you are duty bound to speak to one another?

i speak to everyone mostly, except the really ugly, maybe that was it? 😉

Perhaps they don’t want to chat because they’ll lose precious energy ?

You’re a boring git at the best of times. If I was hanging out my arse, tired and hungry you would be a whole lot worse. 🙂
