Mine took about 8 days from HK. I haven't had a chance to try it on the bike yet but the general image quality in daylight is much better than I had expected. It is a bit jumpy thought - with a class 2 card but hopefully I'll sort that when I get a faster one.

I have a MUVI and have now had 2 new class six cards in it one was a Nokia and the other was a Samsung and the FPS have stayed to same as the card it with and the highest speed I have had is 19.5 fps. I wondered if any one with MUVI has got a card and what make to get the fps up near the 25/30 they say the camera will run at. Keith.

Here's a sledgecam video I made by clipping it to my hat. You also get to hear me giggling like a small girl
Done with a non-branded, non SDHC 2 gig card. I flipped it over on the computer as it was clipped upside down to my hat.
It's pretty choppy and obviously there is not much contrast - think it would work a lot better attached somewhere it would shake around less.

Did anyone install the driver for this? What does it do? Is it PC only?
Having some issues with mine and my Mac, it seems to send it a bit crazy when it connects. I can't use the driver CD as I only had a slot not a tray and it won't work with the tiny disc.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Don't worry about the driver, just plug the camera in via USB and copy files over through windows.
The only useful thing on the CD is the time tag file.

Ah, you're using a Mac, hadn't read that properly. Can't help then I'm afraid!

Should just act as a USB mass storage device.... on a PC or a mac.

It does mostly work, it's just a bit screwy and I sometimes get error messages and files won't copy first time etc. I have just been using a memory card out of my phone with some space left on it, I wonder whether a newly formatted card would work better. Is there a recommended file system for formatting it?
Can anyone email me the time tag file?

D001 Mods!
I find the blue & red LEDs hard to see, on removing the cover you can see that the LED's are mostly obscured. To enable a more direct view I removed the cover and drilled two small (1.5mm) holes on the top...

How I done it...
Remove the back cover, which is just held with the four visible case screws (careful these are miniscule, drop one and you'll never see it again!), note there are wires & battery attached to the back cover.
On mine all these screws were stripped (one already missing), I glued them back with araldite. Even if you don't do this mod it's worth checking those screws are still there - replacements will be hard to find. (I'm tempted to put a strip of insulating round the halves to be sure)
Be very careful drilling the holes (the battery is stuck to back cover). I used a 1 mm pilot, finishing with a 1.5 mm. I used a spiral (archemedian) hand drill, but I'd think a Dremel may have an attachment for the job, dunno 'cos I don't have such a thing.
To position the holes just open the top slightly and mark where the LED's are - the holes need to be pretty close to the edge.
To stop crap getting in I covered the holes with clear sticky-back plastic.
LED's now look considerably more visible, but not tried it in daylight yet.

I'd think this will void any warranty! (I wasn't too worried for £15 tho')

I went for the 'Mini DV Spy Camera Voice Video Recorder Gum 720x480 DVR' it comes with a 'free' 4GB mini SD memory card. Doesn't say what class the memory card is but I'll worry about that when I get it.
As for links, when I searched of the item again it came up with suppliers outwith the UK. I managed to get this one from the UK. If you search Ebay with the above info you'll loads of these.
Cheers
Evers
p.s. I'm still really excited!!

Just a quick note, but a friend decided to order the Muvi camera from Tesco Direct but he wasn't very impressed with the footage, so I said lets do a comparason and filmed a short clip in my garden using my cheapo cam and his Muvi at exactly the same time, results in this pic:

the Muvi seems to be over saturating the colours and the snow is blue whereas my D001 camera seems to reproduce the colours a bit better - what do you think?
Anyway, we sent this image to Veho who said 'Unfortunately it looks there is a fault with the colour saturation. We recommend returning the item to your reseller for an exchange or refund.'
So, spending more money on the 'proper' stuff doesn't always work out? Would be interested to know if other Muvi owners get the same results, is this normal for the Muvi as my friend is unsure whether or not to get an exchange or refund? Any thoughts?

I there anyway to get rid of the date and time on the cheapo ones?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I've just been out to try my cheapo Ebay one, and TBH it's very dissappointing, really jumpy.
Posted 2 years ago # -
you need a better card then.
took this one yesterday. quite impressed.

I'm using a class 4 at the moment, that should be OK?
Posted 2 years ago # -
so am I and its coming out as smooth as.
you sure its class4, there are a lot of fake memory cards on ebay.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I'ts a Kingston 4gb Class 4 from 7Dayshop, so hopefully not fake.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Simon - where are you mounting it for filming? Wouldn't bother on the handlebars - helmet, seatpost or mid-frame somewhere gets much better results, seems to be the more solid the mounting the better the footage too. I got a 4gb class 4 card from 7 day shop too and it's fine.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I mounted it to my lid with the supplied mount plus velcro and re-useable cable ties. When I play the footage I got from today it's as if the camera is jumping around, might try it on the frame next time.
I'll upload some footage from my helmet mounted attempt later.Posted 2 years ago # -
They are grate wee cam's for the dosh..
I have one of the original muvi cam's from Tesco's, I only seem to be getting 19fps with the original card so I got a 4gb class 4 card from 7day shop but I'm only getting 19fps with that to.. One of my mates got a Transcend 4gb class 6 card and is also only getting 19fps..!?
Has any one managed to get any were near the said 25-30fps ?? if so what cards are you using and could you point me in the direction of where you got it ?? seams to be lot of debate about fakes cards and I'm not sure where is safe to purchase one
Or is it even worth bothering with the upgrade ??

Check the fittings on the helmet mount thing, the screws and nuts and bolts weren't that tight, but every bit of footage I've seen with the cheaper cams has been a bit jumpy, think you have to pay out a lot more £'s for better equipment?
Don't think you'll get more than 19fps, that's set by the cam and not the memory card, my friends Muvi only does 19fps and I can't see any difference to my cheapo copy cam that does 30fps, the only difference seems to be in the colours, as above?? I think the cheapo is better!
Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm not so sure about the fps being set in camera!? from the threads Ive been reading.. most people seem to think that the speed or class of the memory card dictate what fps you get..
but I'm not 100% sure..
Posted 2 years ago # -
Sounds like the MUVIs do not get over 20 fps as mine or my brothers will not show more than 20 fps with new class 6 cards in them. Seems a shame the cheaper copy ones do what the MUVI does not . I am more than happy with the picture but you would like it to do what it said on the box for the extra money we have payed for them.
Posted 2 years ago # -
When I right click on my test video and select properties it shows 30.98fps and this was using a no number micro sd card.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Mmm, checked the info that came with my friends Muvi and it does state that it records up to 30fps, but we can't get more than 19fps and that's using a class 4 card ?? ... My cheapo version records at 30fps regardless of memory card. The Muvi is definately a nicer product feling more solid, metal case and sliding on/off buttons but the footage does not seem as good, odd, you'd think it would record footage better costing more and with obvious superior manufacturing?
