They are a wizard* shop.
* in the sense of rather good (in my experience)

Yes. They sell things cheap and I keep buying them!

Ok, i'll be a bit clearer. I've used them before and never had an issue (they've been great consistently). this morning, the site looks a bit different and when i place my order, it just says "please wait" then hangs. Nothing happens.
Anyone else had similar issues?Posted 2 years ago # -
it was more interesting when you were less clear...

Sounds like the site is being changed/upgraded/broken. Just give it a bit.

Merlin are the best of the bunch, IMHO

OK I'M NOT SLAGGING OFF MERLIN. LIKE I SAY, THEY ARE CONSISTENTLY ACE. i'VE HAD GREAT DEALINGS WITH THEM IN THE PAST. ALL I'M SAYING IS; IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH THE SHOP TODAY??
Posted 2 years ago # -
Bought a fair bit from them recently and all seems spot on, use them more than CRC now, they seem the cheapest.
I can't see what Pooks problem is

Merlin is a top shop and prob the best around for components. I know ill be using them again. Give them a call if your worried about your order.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I don't think any of you lot actually read things.
Posted 2 years ago # -
what all they said - best online shop at the moment -)
Posted 2 years ago # -
Ive used them and had ok service and poor service.
I bought a set of forks from them which were advertised as 100mm travel, and when delivered turned out to be 80mm. They were also OEM forks which was not stated anywhere on the site when i bought them. I also had to chase them for a refund and haggle over refunding my postage as it was their mistake.

but you managed to complete the purchase in the first place o_h_h, which is what the OP was querying...

OP -
any issues with the shop?
Yes i had an issue with the shop, item OEM and incorrectly described.
Fair enough i missed the later post regarding the actual website being the issue.

Old website worked well, new one just freezes up on me and everything is SLOW!

My favourite bike shop. Used to be my local bike shop, got my first proper bike there and now all my wheels by mail order.
Never had a problem.

Couldn't get the new website to accept payment. I phoned them up and they sorted it. The phone number is at the top of the site.
Posted 2 years ago # -
yes but by phoning a telephone number it means i have to speak to someone - an actual person -and thats scary.
Cant i just post on a bike forum and hope someone else sorts it out for me?

who said i'd not phoned or contacted them? I was just seeing if anyone else had had any problems. But hey, kudos for having a random dig at someone anonymously on a forum.
As it turns out, their server is timing out during busy periods between placing the order and it processing, and they are sorting it now.

Odd, it looks remarkably like someone throwing their toys out of their pram from here.

perhaps that's more to do with your interpretation of it than what i actually said.

If you're that wound up by it go to the shop and have it out with them.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm not wound up at all.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Seem it from here.

perhaps I'm more irritated by the banal, pseudo-condescending comments being posted on here

I think you should leave this thread and only come back when you've calmed down a bit, had a little think about you're behaviour and are in a better humour. That's what I think.

I bought a Thing once, but I returned it, not off Merlin…
It was a toaster from Currys but I called every one in the shop a **** stick and told them how the Lord would judge them. I was escorted back to the care home…Posted 2 years ago # -
Fight fight!...seriously though good shop but IT always seems precarious..their emails look really wierd no images display just really random text etc...sure it'l be sorted soon.
Posted 2 years ago # -
cookeaa - That sort of going on should be saved for Argos not Currys, what were you thinking.
Posted 2 years ago # -
do you lot ever read a full thread? or just the title, first post, then the reponses to your own witticisms?

Their new website is a pile of toilet, I popped into the shop last week however to pick up a a load of kit and it was all in stock, I could fondle it and it was cheap as chips. Granted some of it was just in vacuum packed bags and not full retail boxes but who gives a toss.
Support you LBS?? not when all I get is a shoddy service and overpriced tat.
Merlin will always get support from me, they don't offer the personal service but that's not what I want from a bike shop. They are good at what they do, hence being in business as long as they have
Website does need sorting though...
