Can anyone recommend a good fast rolling tyre choice. I am about to order some new tyres for my Yeti 575 and have read that a Maxxis High roller on the front coupled with a Larsen TT on the rear seems to be a good blend of front end grip and minimal rolling resistance on the rear – does anyone run with this set up, and if so what widths and compounds can you suggest.

I've got high rollers and dont fall off as much as you. Does that help? You may want to mention the Yeti occasionally in your threads too!

Zesty 714 😀 – 2.35 High roller LUST front 25psi 2.1 Medusa rear LUST 25psi joes sealant – fast sure footed. I was conti man for years but these seem great in the winter weather. Trail center regular.

My wife's in Singapore. I did her ironing before she left. As for tyres, a larson would not be good at this time of year. Lots of closely spaced, shallow knobs. I like Minion DHF front and back. I like High Rollers, too, but prefer DHFs.

Do you run the rear in the opposite direction to the front? as I currently am but it doesn't half feel draggy?!?

Ust Nevagal on the front,Advantage on the back of my 575,no idea of pressures.Great in the Lakes/Peaks. Tyre choice not reallyan issue in Trail centres.

best combo ever for trail centres and general razzing;
HR 2.35 sp ST F / Monorail 2.1 62a R (which replaced a TT)

never used a Larsen myself, but I have a friend who likes riding uphill (like you, IIRC) who swears by them on the back. will be a bit of a handful in the mud, but I've always thought rear traction is highly overrated… put a 2.25" 60a on the back. as far as the front is concerned, I'm not really a fan of the High Roller here (though I use one on my hardtail). a 575 will get you into all sorts of mischief if you push it, so I'd use a 2.35" Minion DHF. 60a rolls better than 42a, but the extra grip on bare rock of the 42a is amazing. maybe try the 60a first and see how you get on: you could always get a 2.5 42a (coupled with a 2.35 60a High Roller on the back) when you point the bike exclusively downwards. hope that helps…

I used Larsen TT rear and HR front for a lot of last year. Outstanding I would say. The Larsen only really fails in loose stuff and braking. It provides very good traction in a surprising amount of conditions. I only took them off after the snow got deep. Swampies cant be beaten in the snow IMHO. The Larsen and HR will go back on come Spring, whatever month that occurs in.

I have a 2.35 60a High roller on the front and a 2.35 60a Larson TT on the back and I find it great. The tread does look like it will be rubbish in the mud but I havn't had any problems all winter. Not once have I had to get off to push the bike out of mud I have been very surprised.

I have them on my Pitch which is used for all kinds of riding from all day at trail centres to exploring the peaks and even DH riding and they it is a great combo.

Have just fitted 2.35 High Rollers to my 575 with DT Tubeles kits. Gone for the 40 Supertacky on the front and the 60 Maxpro on the back. Not ridden them yet so can't comment on how they roll, but clearance is fine on the 575 (carbon) rear end.

2.3 crossmark on the back and 2.4 Ardent on the front, great combo.

I've been running a 2.35 ST Minion upfront, singleply and tubeless and it's been great so far. Running a 2.25 Maxpro advantage out back and the moment but last summer I put on a 2.25 Maxpro Larsen and ended up running it right up until winter it was that good.

This is what I've got on my bikes at the moment. All Maxxis.

Ragley Ti. Front 2.4 Ardent 60a. Rear 2.25 Crossmark 60a – great fast rolling combination with decent volume. Brilliant on trail centre terrain and trail riding, rear is not that grippy in mud but fine where there's a rock / gravel base. I've been running this mix for a couple of long xc rides in Calderdale and South Pennines as well as for running skills courses at Gisburn Forest and Lee Quarry.

Ibis Tranny. Front High Roller 42a. Rear Crossmark 60a. I put the 42a tyre on the front for some steep and slippy tech riding round Hebden Bridge, it needs to come off now for something faster rolling, probably a 60a Minion.

Ibis Mojo. Front 2.35 42a Swampthing – brilliant winter tyre for the slither, also good on wet rocks and roots. Rear 2.35 60a Minion DHF – plenty of grip and fast enough rolling.
