Just browsing the Maxxis website and came across the new Griffin. Anyone tried one yet? Seems like it could be an ideal BPW dry weather tyre on the big wheels. ST and 3C compounds.

Never ridden one, but to my eyes it just doesn’t look like a good tread design? What with that angled braking edge, no side channel and strangely pointed edge blocks inbetween the cup shaped ones. Why not just go for a HR2, a tyre that is definitely good, since it has a flat braking edge and the cornering blocks off a minion.

Or maybe wait for those prototype maxxis rock razor copies to come out

2.4 Wire only so a proper DH tyre.
I reckon they’re developed purely for Pietermaritzburg 🙂

That one above looks good though. Like an ardent race, but with more aggressive side nobs.
Although like any other semi-slick, it always feels like you’re buying a half-worn tyre!

Would make a good front xc tyre.
