Anyone have a good idea where to look for rooms? ie tourist information in Bourg d'Oisans or Alpe d'Huez or index of hoteliers/B+Bs?

Keep being recommended King of the Mountains but think they are full.

There are several good campsites who have little chalets that are very good and not too dear, they are mainly situated on the road that leads to the alpe (where the 2004 time trial started, before the sharpe left turn), best advice is to book early as they get booked quickly. I cant recall any names but all have bourg d'oisans as their address.

We stayed in Valloire for the week before the ride, and slept in a friend's spare room in B d'O the night before.
B d'O is full of tiresome cyclists talking gear ratios for the week before la Marmotte and A d'H is an empty wasteland.

We had a house in Bourg. Turned out to be 23euro pppn and the campsites were asking 18. Start line holding pens were at the end of the road. ONly problem is its full of lycra walking arouns town, not a good look.

Check out Ride Oisans and get in touch with Phil, he should be able to sort you out with some accommodation…

Stayed in Vaujany last year. There were plenty of places. If you drive down in the morning you won't have to ride back up at the end of the day 🙂

The Tourist office has a web site with a list of locals with apartments to rent.

I will send you a link later to the place we have booked in September.
