M771 XT front no good for top pull?

took this out of box and thought looks like bottom pull only but a quick check says its dual pull and instruction sheet shows a top pull...but seems to me that it is way way way out of line with a cable that comes down centre of seat tube and friction at the end ferrule will be terrible

so me thinks yes it is dual pull but not really designed for top pull with the type of cable routing i've got - do i put it back in the box and get an M770 or similar?

Well I've got one running top pull and it seems fine. Thought it looked odd with the cable running at an angle but seen the same on a number of other bikes since. Works as it should.

Run top pull 771 and 971 with no problems. TBH there is so much spring tension with a front mech that any extra friction where the cable exits the end ferrule at an angle is negligible. Mr Shimano seems to know his stuff.
