    Some of the boats I have loved playing with;
    Laser (A classic among classics)

    Salcombe Yawls – Large parts of my youth spent messing about in these. The delights of Stones Boatyard on an early summer’s day….;

    Dart 16 – Recently got in to these on holiday, solo out on the harness in the Eastern Med under summer sun. Lovely;

    And finally, two flights of fancy;
    Maltese Falcon;

    Velsheda;

    monos maxi z86’s or ecover I like!! No pics far too much effort if the pics are not on my pc!! But Farr has designed done some stunners!!!

    For Grumm: Which shotgun is better? Purdey or Holland & Holland?

    Hobie Cat for sheer terror & excitement!

    Purdey, of course. 😉

    The J class boats are pure elegance. Stunning. I always think Velsheda is the wallflower of the piece, and somehow deserves my attention more!

    I’m currently renovating my miracle but have plans to get a dart 15 or 18 in the future. One day I would like a cruiser but that will have to be in the future. I saw velsheda when she was first renovated and have admired her ever since. I recently saw one of her sisters but could read her name she had a blue hull.

    That wasnt amazing it was pretty damn stupid and the sea rarely gives you second chances.

    I went overboard during an overnight race once and was shitting myself – got back on quite quick and I never ever want to be in that situation again. We did a gybe at about 11kts in heavy seas and the skipper who was a crap helm made an arse of it as usual.

    That was on one of these : bull 7000 Sportsboat

    Some cool boats here! While not at all good at sailing myself, a lot of my mates are very good sailors.

    Ace.

    My Dad built a mermaid when I was 2, which taught me to sail

    then we had a topper and did loads of sailing in those with school (a comprehensive before I get judged)

    then parents bought a Pandora which was great. Memories! 12 years old, on the foredeck, gybing 300 sq ft of spinnaker….. 🙂

    She was sold due to two sons going to uni. But my dad’s recently bought himself a retirement pressie:

    When my boy’s about 5 or 6, think I’m going to get a boat and start sailing again. Do some racing with him. Thinking of either a merlin rocket or flying fifteen….

    Ah, the Merlin Rocket! We used to host Merlin Week on the family beach in South Devon. (Across the estuary from Salcombe)

    Such a glamourous boat, such beautiful lines! So much beer….!

    I want to pack mountain biking in in a few years and buy a Skiff, Musto or 29er maybe. Anyone sailed one of those who can give me some advice? I sailed a Laser about 5 times 20 years ago and that is my total sailing experience! I hear these performance Skiffs are like death on stick which to be honest sounds great.

    To me this is the absolute tits – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxN33qW-n4E&feature=related
