    I managed to win a trip to Legoland Denmark when I was 10-ish (1988) with a competition to build a limited pieces animal model.

    If anyone fancies an evening Lego speed build challenge, I think it was 15 parts, my entry included one bit which was a space-type concave curved bulkhead thing that looked exactly like a cobra’s hood. Though I now wish I could have built that Alien above.

    one of the proudest moments of fatherhood was, when I asked my son where he should place the engine on the spaceship we were building, see him stop, count the dots and place it exactly the right spot.

    brought a tear to my eye it did.

    You can even build the Forth Bridge in Lego.
    (Never managed that with Meccano)
