I want to learn French......I even get free language training at work but come the end of the day (its a long day) the last thing I want to do is go have a language lesson, just too tired.

Yes. It's good. A little like playing a game and you don't have to think too hard. However, the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it - listen to French radio via the internet, read French magazines, holiday in France etc.

We built this at my last place of work - aimed at schoolkids but seems to be ok for "grown-ups" as well, and it's free and open for anyone to use

There is a fair bit of bad press about these guys as they like a bit of litigation if you try and sell their product secondhand after you've used it. Apparently is not all that anyway. Loads of stuff about them on reddit.

Ear Worms is quite a good diversion in the iPod. Useful for the way home as background noise.

imho you should stick with the course. Books/tapes etc. get you so far but in the end you get to a point where you need to be talking and actively having someone correct you. Your pals get bored with this quite quickly as they understand what you are trying to say even if it doesn't make proper sense. I went down the book route for a while but doing an after work course is now working way better for me

Yeh books I wouldnt try. But Rosetta Stone is marketed as an all singing all dancing interactive nirvana....

I listen to the michelle Thomas French tapes, whilst doing the washing up. It's working well for me.
