Depends on how you work and where. If you'll mainly be doing that work at home, then the difference in price between 13" and 15" will cover a big monitor (I got a 24" from Dell) plus a keyboard and mouse – that solution works well for me and you get a more portable machine into the bargain.
On the other hand, if you need the extra screen space when you're away from home then a 15 will make a load more sense. That said, then the 17 would make even more sense – and it's not a whole lot bigger than the 15 – take a look at this photo of all three in a stack:
