Hi all, finally scraped the funds together for a MacBook, but what size? I'm out n about a lot, so 13/15? Figured that 13" would be portable, but would that be too small for long periods of illustration/photo processing work when back home? 17" looks way too unweildy and I can't drag an iMac around!

Depends on how you work and where. If you'll mainly be doing that work at home, then the difference in price between 13" and 15" will cover a big monitor (I got a 24" from Dell) plus a keyboard and mouse - that solution works well for me and you get a more portable machine into the bargain.
On the other hand, if you need the extra screen space when you're away from home then a 15 will make a load more sense. That said, then the 17 would make even more sense - and it's not a whole lot bigger than the 15 - take a look at this photo of all three in a stack:
