A really interesting article in new zealand mountain bike magazine has made my wife want to do a skills course…do you have any reccomendations, ideally south east, but we'd happily go to the lakes or wales if it was a weekend…

she's pretty good – especially climbing, it's some of the more technical stuff that she'll often get off and walk.

We do ladies only sessions in the South East, and usually have a good representation of women on any given group. Be delighted to answer any questions you or she may have – contact Richard via the website (click my name).

We did one at the Forest of Dean with Scott Beaumont, it was organised for people entered in the mini DH. We all learned alot and would highly recommend him

My friend (a Woman) runs skills courses plus a B&B if you need acommodation.

    I can highly recommend her.

The Girls at the Hub, GT do great days, and Cyclewise at Whinlatter….

My partner has been on both and found them invaluable too.

These are very good, I did the introductory course on the women's only and then did the intermediate with the chaps around as well. Both days were really good 🙂

Would thoroughly recommend GlenP and Richard's courses (although I have to say the mixed groups pushed me more than the ladies only!) I've improved so much just after two outings with them (Skills Level 1 and Ride Level 2) – mostly due to the very clear course content and sensible teaching style. They very quickly helped me sort out my riding style particularly on the steeper downhills and I'm now a lot more stable on the bike as a result – no more walking for me! Also a beautiful area to ride in with great pubs…

Girls Only courses or one to one tuition (which isn't any extra) … free bunkhouse too.

We offer free short sessions at some of the bigger bike events – maybe if she is getting into riding more then a weekend with free coaching on saturday followed by a 25 or 50k marathon on sunday is an idea, and won't cost a lot? check out http://www.mtb-marathon.co.uk as we're at all of those. We also have a range of Lake District and trail centre courses if she wants to learn in a group, but also one-to-one works well…check out http://www.cycleactive.co.uk…feel free to call us if you want to chat through first.

Nicola at Dales Bike Centre in Reeth is an excellent instructor – laid back but very motivating and encouraging. I recently did a skills weekend with her – a Back to Basics skills day followed by a Steep and Rocky skills day. By the end of it she got me riding down stuff I would normally have walked down before. I think they've got a similar weekend coming up that's for women only:

I hope your wife has lots of fun, whichever course she goes on!

I went on a Dirt Divas womans only course in Swinley Forest which I guess is more 'south-east' than a lot of the others! It was really good, I learnt quite a lot.
Also did the Forest Freeride one which I'd recommend too, although its further away…

Partner and her daughter recently did the Dales Bike Centre ladies only weekend course with Nicola, probably the same weekend as Brown Eyed Girl.

Both enjoyed it very much and came back a lot more confident.
Nicola is an excellent teacher, very patient.
