i have a kona bear predecessor of the dawg, (marin made them change the name, previously it was the beer but pc police made them chamge that too)

anyway mine is still going strong after 7 years 2 megavalanches dh races xc epics commuting, popping to the shops trail centre weekends etc etc

the medium- 17 inch frame is spot on for me at 5'8

it was built up quite burly but its lost a lot of weight recently

i did crack a seatstay falling of the kona darkside at mabie but found a spare seatstay in the next shop i walked into!

its pretty much indestructable and believe me ive tried

propedal/ a lock out is required to stop it bobbing on the climbs its an awesome descender

I have a 2007 Dawg Primo – lovely bike. A bit of a beast and a bit of weight to carry uphill, but it comes to life when you point it downhill.

Very good bike. Plenty of friend have one and they are all very happy about them. One of them add a dawg and a RM7 and he'd rather use the dawg than the RM7 for shuttle rides.
I have tried one ages ago, very good bike. As said not the wippet light but at least something you can trust to go down with.

No complaints with my 17 " Coiler Deelux (the Dawg/Bears slighlty burlier big brother) I'm 5Foot 10 and possibly could have been better served with an 18 inch frame but sadly they wer'nt brought into NZ.
It feels unbreakable and is not light but that only make for strong like bull legs 😉

Had a Fire mountain back in '93(?)

Now got a Kula and a King Kikapu. Love 'em, i'm 5'6'' and the 16incher is perfect for me. THey go faster than a lot of other and lov ethe rough and tumble. The Dawg is a monster.

if you are more gravity orientated then the dawg would be the way forward
if you just want an all day xc/ trail centre bike then id go for the 120
