I’ve been trying to remember the name of that for aaages, thanks :D.

For drum n bass I don’t think that you can beat a bit of Noisia or Spor.

    Tunes such as:

    and

Although, fwiw, I hate pretty much anything by skrillex so your taste may differ to mine 😛

For some deep and heavy tunes you will struggle to better any of dmz/digital mystikz early stuff. They have all done some good solo stuff as well. Mala continues to be one of my favourite artists, the bloke is a genius.

Needs a bit fat rumbly soundsystem…

try out Digitally Imported. I don’t think I’ve logged on to spotify since i found it (and my cd collection is getting lonely).

Thanks to someone on here a couple of years ago (i forget who), this is an ever present on my mp3 player and gets me bouncing around at work without fail:

Pretty Lights maybe doesn’t count, but it’s in that musical area. His albums are available on a free-but-donations-gratefully-recieved basis from his website.

+1 on stuff by dieselboy, “the dungeon master’s guide” is an album that I never bore of (so long as I skip the cheesy prelude!), whilst not his tracks it is selected and mixed by him.

    Jamz – Member

Johnny Osbourne – Fally Ranking (VIVEK remix)

    SP:MC – Hunted

    Menta – Snake Charmer

    The Bug – Skeng

    Skream – Mood2fuck

    Radical Guru – Strong Dub

    Distance – No Sunshine

Fat Freddy’s Drop – Cays Crays (Digital Mystikz remix)

    Coki – Officer

    That’s more like it!

Pretty much spot on!! The Digital Mystikz remix of Fat Freddy’s Drop is a very heavy tune. The original album is also with checking out if anyone has never heard it.

Also worth checking is the Radical Guru’s Subconscious album, not a single bad track on it!

Have a listen to Dubfreq ft Fantan Mojah – Hail Di King. Was on a free download on Soundcloud a while ago. Again, the original album is worth a spin (for the reggae heads).

It funny, cos dubstep as it was when the stuff first came out would be unrecognisable to people who think of Skrillex as dubstep. I would’ve called Skrillex bass-trance if it had been down to me 🙂

In addition to some of the great stuff mentioned above, these were a couple of my fave dubstep tracks (sounds pretty dated funnily enough – just noticed it is 10 years old!)

Do enjoy some of the new stuff though

I’ve had that Tek-One Broken string on repeat since last night, constantly in the last 30 minutes of last night’s ride, absolutely spanking it down the lanes of Cheshire.

I agree Dezb, it has kind of morphed over time.

I stumbled across it 10+ years ago listening to J Da Flex’s Underground Knowledge show (really miss it, wish it hadn’t been axed). The tune that got me was Horror Show. That summed up the music for me, sparse but with destructive sub bass.

There was some amazing stuff around then. Early Skream tunes, Plasticman (now plastician) all the dmz stuff.
