Yer all screwed, most of the boats you have chosen need crew. Which as I can attest are in the main unreliable, costly and often crap.

What you really need is an X-Boat or Solent Sunbeam or an upto date International 14. There you only really need 1 crew who will be as passionate about getting round ChI Harbour in first place.

Or that Wally that you can sail single handed.

I’ve sailed Ultra 30’s, whilst a whole lot of fun, organising crew was a total nightmare and when they went over they were a huge pile of pants to get upright, Ossie will back that up.

Or I’d go for a Figaro or an IMCO 60.

Along that line, I had both power and sailboats for a few years when I lived in Las Vegas and was out on Lake Mead almost every weekend. What used to burn my butt was that everyone wants to go to the lake, but no-one wants to contribute to gas or, god forbid, help clean the boat up at the end of the day.

A classic–and a lot less of a pain in the a$$ to take care of

International 14 was my dream choice when I had time to sail dinghies far more prevalent round here than on the east coast where i.usped to live – 505 territory up there (soft spot for them too). Always preferred the front end of a boat to the stick/ wheel.

Remember helping extract an ultra up the hamble point slip. Big old lump of a thing bit disappointed to read they were a bit iffy to sail though – illusions shattered!!! Made good telly back in the day.
