iTunes music clogging up computer

What are my options? If I remove the music the next time the ipod syncs it will wipe everything?!

Put the music on an external hard drive and set you ipod to 'manual manage' then it won't sync your music.

Move it all to an external drive manually (not in Itunes) also move the itunes library file. When you click itunes on the desktop hold shift and it'll ask you which library to load. Point it to the one you moved over to an external drive and you wont notice any difference. Nor will the Ipod!

All now on 80gb hd. Still tempted to get a carbonite account as well, to be sure, to be sure.
