760 on the xc bike - i said i'd chop them down a bit, but right now i don't want to.

I tried the 760? Renthal Fatbars but they were far too wide. I'm now back on my 711 Sunline V1's again and they feel right for me.

shoulder width must play a part too....?
i hear that for every 10mm of stem reduction a justification of +10mm on bar width is recommended........

Just gone back to 711 from 780
780 was wicked fun for dh madness but for all round trail, dirt jump, larking about goodness 710-720 seems poifikt

I've had 800 on my hardtail for the last month, I just cut them back to 720 after clipping 3 trees on Wednesday.
if 800 has a place, in the woods on singletrack, is not it.Posted 4 months ago # -

710mm, feels just right.

700mm ...and only just fits between the trees on our local cheeky trails.
Posted 4 months ago # -
750 on my Pitch, 711 on the do everything else bike.

750 (answer pro taper), started at 780 and moved controls inward until felt comfy.

Just got some 780 wide bars and they made my shoulders / arms ache. 720 wide on the other bike feels fine.
They're a different brand so its probably not a fair compairson but could they just be too wide? It felt like the bike was running away cos my arms were too widely spread and I couldn't turn the bike where I wanted?

810mm - clipped a couple of trees about a year ago, but soon learned to wiggle / judge gaps.

780 superstars and loving them, thought I would trim them but there are not many trees on the Black Mountains!

750mm for me too. Haven't ridden with them properly yet, but they feel great just riding round my back garden so far.

your bars should be 100mm wider than your shoulders.
