I’ve knackered the freehub on my 2012 SLX rear hub. I need to remove it to send it away for warranty repair. I’ve taken the cassette off but i can’t find a method of getting the freehob body off?

    Any help much appreciated!

You put a big allen key inside the free hub body itself and turn it anti clockwise

remove the axel/bearings and then from the non drive side use the appropriate allen key secured in a vice ….

not done an SLX but itll be either a 10-11-12mm allen key.

10mm allen key, lots of force. At least that’s how it used to be, before I got titsed off with relpacing Shi*mano freehub bodies 😉

You need to remove the axle by undoing the cone and locknut on one side and withdrawing it from the hub. You will then see a 12mm allen bolt which holds the freehub on.

Can’t remember if they are LH or RH thread though!

This is where Hope hubs rule, take the cassette off and the freehub normally falls off.

12mm allen key, put it in a vice, put the wheel down onto it. then turn the wheel.
