After many years of riding hardtails and an Epic that spends most of it's time pretending to be a hardtail I decided to get a bouncier full-suss a few months back. It's a pretty old frame but I've been having a lot of fun on it so I'm now wondering if there is significantly more fun to be had on something more modern or if my old frame is worth investing in some nicer bits for and getting the bearings/bushes replaced and the longer travel BETD link I have for it fitted.

Current bike is an '04 S-Works Enduro with coil pro-pedal Vanilla shock and coil U-turn Pikes. It's not light (32.8lb on my scales) although I've also run it closer to 30lbs with Talas forks and an RP2.

If modern frames are a lot better then what sort of thing should I be looking at and what sort of travel? Riding is Pentlands, Scottish trail centres and occasional trips up north.
