I am generally supportive of this type of thing (pretty hard to really hate on it eh?) but i think sometimes the type of approach Avaaz and similar websites use is less positive and informative than it could be..

To protect endanger species you shoot the poachers … as you can’t breed endanger species as fas as poachers harvest them.

To save the sea you sank the ships … using sea mines …

To protect the fish you sank the trawlers … at the harbours.

To prevent piracy on high seas you shoot the pirates and feed them to the poor sharks …

All they have to do is stop prawn trawlers strip mining the bottom. Don’t need more bureaucrats to turn the reef into a private playground for the eco-elite and tourists.
