I bought a Pompino a few years back, no disk mounts and it currently fitted with stock cantilever brakes. It's probably 'cos I'm crap at setting them up but they don't really stop me very well..which is not good seeing as I'm of Kate Moss physique. Should I look to upgrade these? or fit something else like V's or stock road brakes. The bike is used off road so mud clearance pretty important. Also, it has the midge bars on which I want to keep as I like them.

I replaced the on-one branded cantis with a set of Tektro CR520s which work (much) better.

Thanks Mincer, did you keep the same levers?

I fitted V-brakes on mine, and changed the levers to Tektro RL520 (which have the right pull for V-brakes).
The V-brakes were just some old Avids I had going spare, but they were much easier to set up and get them working nicely than the original cantilever brakes.Posted 10 months ago #
