AQR run skills days at Sherwood Pines. Basic and advanced. Not that many rocks there but the stuff they teach you is transferable. I did the basic course twice a couple of years ago(before they brought in the 2nd level) and I improved loads each time. Each time afterwards I scared the lads I rode with by being right behind them on the descents when they were used to waiting for me!

Calderdale is a good place for getting to grips with rocky trails. I’m in the process of setting up a guiding / skills training company there and will be offering good rates to get myself established. Have a look at my site (currently in development) and drop me a line (click on my user name)if you are interested. Cheers.

forest freeride is highly recommended, espesially by my wife! Stuart from here posts on the site

Ed-O of these parts is going legit and teaching people properly – with his new site/venture – http://great-rock.co.uk/

I’ve known Ed about a year, and in that time he’s managed to completely turn my head around with regards bike design and setup, and has got me riding stuff I never thought possible.

Sticky tyres, slack head angles, big forks and discs. Still not sure about the beard.

(idiot fast posting :: note ed has already posted. Hey ho. More coffee needed, but the thoughts remain).

I’ve been to an AQR Skills Day in the past, excellent day out and everyone came away having learnt something new.
Richpips off here offers guided riding and Skills training in the Peak District (so plenty of rocks!), he’s based in Hayfield. http://www.peakcyclehire.com
Ed-O in Calderdale as mentioned above as well, he’s one of the best riders I’ve ever met.

thanks all, will have a scout around on the web and book something later today.

Might be a bit late in the day, but we have some if you’re north of the border.

Ladies only courses are a work in progress at the minute – hoping to have some up and running by early summer.
