I replaced the forks on my bike a few weeks ago, they were Rockshox Recons and I have now put Rebas on it. Had no problems with the headset when the Recons were fitted, but with the Rebas I can’t tighten headset adjuster up too much or it seizes the steering up. By leaving it loose so the steering doesn’t seize, there is too much play in the headset.

    Both forks are 1 1/8″.

Any advice(headset related 😉 ) would be much appreciated.

check your steerer isnt fouling the top cap.

Add another headset spacer above or below the stem. Sounds like the steerer on the new forks is a touch longer than the old ones.

Daft question, but did you swap the crown race over from your Recons onto your Rebas?!?

After you stick the stem and spacers on, the steerer should be 3mm below that level. It sounds like you’ve cut the steerer slightly longer than it was previously, and so locking up the steerer when you tighten the top cap.

+1 for add a spacer to give you 3mm clearance

    Yes.

Thanks Gents, that makes sense, I’m slightly embarrassed I didn’t notice this. 😳
