Although saying that, it's quite a mild flu, more like a coughy cold, and you get time off work which is nice.

Since there was no swine flu in Cumbria at the time the Doctor didn't want to see me, or offer any tablets! Told me to stay home and pretend nothing was happening (more or less).
Well - I assume it was H1N1 cos it was flu and that is the only one doing the rounds at the moment. I suspect it has been a lot more widespread than the news reports for some time.
My 4 year old has it. He got prescribed tamiflu yesterday.
The symptoms only started getting bad today though (day 4) and he's been sick and is now suffering from painful stomach cramps. Temperature hit 104 today as well.
I think the sickness and stomach pain could be the tamiflu, which is supposed to be as bad as the virus, but obviously less dangerous.
Strange times though. Diagnosed over the phone with absolutely no other checks for other illnesses (no questions about rashes or anything consistent with meningitis for instance). Someone will end up getting mis diagnosed when they actually have a serious illness.
The hospital pharmacy was packed full of people collecting tamiflu when I was in there.
Well, getting the t'flu was easy enough. I had two days of sweating and coughing up Cherie Blairs mucus at work, then threw in the towel yesterday and went to the doc who took my temp, symptoms etc and came to her conclusion. She was of the opinion that I should take the tamiflu, although tbh I didn't really feel too bad, just a bit crap for work. I work at a jobcentre and don't really want to infect anybody with kids etc so felt I should avoid infecting people if H1N1 is what I had. I did have to walk a mile or so to the chemist who held the stuff which my doc thought was out of order, but since I don't actually feel that bad, it wasn't a problem at all.

A doc friend of mine is saying that if you're feeling really really bad, then you probably don't have swine flu, as it's not appearing to be that bad at the minute. Wait till the Autumn when it's had time to mutate, he said...

Don't wish to be a dick about these things, but I am hard as **** nails. Had much worse in the past, and there wasn't really any other options today.

that might count for something, in major flu outbreaks it generally the older populations that get milder symptoms as they've encountered flu in earlier outbreaks and their immune system deals with it better. Similarly, someone like yourself who works in a populous workplace (like schools, colleges, hospitals) will encounter a lot of bugs too. God knows I did when i worked in a prison . People who've had less exposure in the past tend to get much more severe symptoms. I know people who had blood squirting out of their arses* in the 60's outbreaks, but their parents generation who lived through the really dire epidemics in the early 20th century just shrugged it off.
*I don't think those are the 'flu-like' symptoms my packet of lemsip are referring to.
Incidentally, my folks have just been release back into society after being quarantined for a week - full spacesuit visits the lot. The came up clear for swine flu, although their symptoms were the same. The virus is wide spread enough now that people won't routinely get tested anymore, they'll just be treated and asked to behave as if they have (ie. told to avoid giving lurgy to anyone else). There are definately a lot of coughs and colds around just now too
