He drives off and I jump out and tell him to be careful.

Minor scratches but looks ok till I get home and see 4mm gap between wing
    and bumper.

I took a reg plate picture of his car.

I think ignore it but annoyed at the damage of my car.

Car shook and made an almighty crack but drives ok.

Car is old ’02 but in mint condition Bmw 530i se.

Worth all the hassle of claiming or not?

i think your necks painful as well, and what about the fear of getting back into the car, and your three friends who were in the car with you, life can never be the same again.

I’m just annoyed I’m going to have to get it fixed and pay for it.

    He did apologise.

I’m just annoyed my car was mint and that anyone with OCD will notice.

get some idea on how much it is. Contact the bloke and ask if he wants to deal with it through insurance?

At least you have a reg and saw it.

We noticed on Saturday my car had been hit while parked by the road. They have extensively damaged the rear wing and would have had to mount the curb to have hit it too. Of course no note was left. :-\

Parked cars get hit all the time and we never notice when we return.

I take pride with looking after my car – looks and runs like new.

3 litre 0-60 in 6.8 but looks like a business car.

Guess I will get the hammer out in summer and put it back to concours in July
    but I guess poop happens.

Live at the top of a cul-de-sac and my car was parked on my drive, rear end protruding by a couple of inches. Guy across the road is having building work done so a few flat-backs and vans coming and going. Another neighbour has a delivery in a 7.5 tonner. Lots of bigger than usual traffic.

Went out my car and there is a big gouge all along the rear panel, bumpers hit too. Note? None.

Witness behind me said I was lucky nothing cracked.

Then he shows me his wing on a 3 month old car – hit and run.

Poor guy was retired and disabled – bought his car and then some idiot hit it and drove off too.

OP I have a 51 plate 530i sport and at the end of February I was rear ended at a roundabout by another driver.

I looked into going the non-insurance route, but the cost of a genuine BMW bumper skin painted and fitted was £858!

We went down the insurance route.

Not if you have his reg and a photo you won’t.

Ho Hum – the sport versions are really nice with their bumpers.

I’ve looked the car over and it is a case of hammering mounting points.

Wonder why it sounded like huge crack.

The bumper feels solid and stable just not on par on the wing.

Feel like slapping the guy for driving so badly and them trying to drive off!

Your insurance will go up a bit if you contact them, but it will sort the car out and these things have a habit of proving very expensive to repair!

I think I would be going that route. Though without his insurance details your insurer may not be so inclined to pursue it. They don’t seem to like having to actually do any work.
