    hello,

i got a fairly old (at least 5 years) x.7 sram rear derailleur with a real wobble on the joint where it screws into the frame. i can't seem to find a way of tightening, although CRC sells replacements for that bolt/axle, so you must be able to take it off from the mech body….. any ideas?

also i'm running a xt 113mm (i think) bottom bracket on my 2009 Cotic Soul, as suggested, with square taper middleburns; and it seems like i can easily over tighten the bolt pushing the crank arm on, so that the rings are really close to the frame. i've had some pretty horrific chain suck and trashed the paint. is chain suck made more likely by me having the chainrings too close to the frame? i guess not, i guess its just mud, and old chain rings…..

    any thoughts?

    1. maybe the rear mech body has worn = non repairable

    2. maybe you've over tightened the crank arm onto the axle. did you check it with a torque wrench
