sadly not for me… freind of mine (used to ride years ago) is considering picking up a used bike and has seen a gasgas 250, 02 model for about 1k, in a local bike shop that specialises in trials.

the chap does’nt know what a spanner is so it will have zero maintenance or even care from himself, anyone have a view on gasgas with repsect to rider freindliness, reliability etc?

Only as good as the previous owner but if it’s in reasonable shape the chances are he’ll get bored of it before it dies.

    Hi mate,
I had a GasGas TXT 250 pro 2005 and well……. It was amazing.

In the two years I had it it never failed to impress me, rode competitively in Cumbria so in pretty much every condition you can throw at a bike and it was 100% reliable, fill her up and your off.

A very usable bike set up is really nice and its up there weight wise with the new bikes of today.

If your just getting into Trials then its the perfect bike to start on, you can drop it and just pick it up again and off you go.

I would love to have mine back, regretted selling it and still am now!

Still keeping the kit as well in hope i get another soon 🙂

GREAT bike yes 1000 seems a lot but what your buying is a bike that will make you grin from ear to ear every time you ride.

    Hope this has helped

I had a 250 Gas Gas, probably about a 1997 model. Great bike, the only issue was the fact that the throttle was either on or off! Ok when you got used to it but the learning curve was steeeeep -definitely a better bike than I was a rider 🙂 Bullet proof tho’

Build quality isnt great, they do need more looking after than a Scorpa for example. Excellent bikes but the early ones will be very second hand nowadays.

Check out a website called Trials central and look at the Gas Gas forums for known problems.

I pretty sure that in 02 the went from the older type to the pro, the older type are a much tougher bike than the early pro’s, early pro’s are famous for having a very very weak gearbox, i wouldnt touch a Gasser with a barge pole..
I’m 100% Scorpa, and 1k would get a usable one.

Gas Gas are definitely not for the “doesn’t know what a spanner is type”, unless he is very keen to know what spanners (and a lot of other things) are.

The vital thing on any trials bike is to have a clean air filter in for every trial – keep two on the go and swap them about. Nuts and bolts tend to slacken off a bit too and must be kept up to the mark or problems ensue with threads in the alloy frame (which obviously is not a Gas Gas problem).

My mate had one when we were 16. He said itwas the best thing ever. He also broke my mums sofa by back hopping onto it on a bmx.
