I rode with Airwalks for years Jase. Only problem with the ones I had was that the soles were a bit floppy but they did the job.
My AM40s are absolutely battered after years of flat pedal abuse so I'm going to get myself something new - review 3 pairs of shoes in the latest mag and they all rate highly but you're looking at £80+ for those.

None of which are AM41s or Vans Gravel 
I dismissed 5-10s after seeing reviews on here (and elsewhere). Might have gone for Links, but they are expensive compared to what you can get AM41s or Gravels for.
Must admit, another pair of Shimanos does seem the sensible option. Not sure on the styling though vs the more casual options. Will do some research on the Vans - never heard of those.
I love my five tens, especially if you come from SPD's you will find that they really do stick to the pedals. Wore them in the Alps last year and they were confortable all day and wore really well.
I found with cheaper trainer type shoes that if your pedals have a decent length pins in them, the soles get eaten by them.
Forgot to say, only advise when switching from SPD's to flats is too move your foot back on the pedal, with SPD's the pedal axle is under the middle of the front of the foot, with flats make sure that the pedal axle is under the centre of the arch of the foot (if that makes sense).
