So quite fancy a fat bike, is the sizing comparable to standard mtb or do you get bigger, plus why do they all come with cable discs and not hydro, thankyou

Get the lowest standover possible so long as you get the right top tube length.

I bought a size down in the Pugsley and it has worked perfectly.

What epicyclo said – if you plan to ‘put your foot down’ on bog or snow.

Cable discs are easier to fix in the back of beyond and some hydros seals pack up in sub freezing conditions (?)

would thought that cable discs would be affected by moisture freezing inside cables and not working

serious snow bikers use special low temp ‘grease’ and sealed cables – else you have to keep weeing on stuff to free it up. 😕

Hence the spare back ‘front wheel’ on some pugs.

Also they work better if exposed to salt water, as the pistons do not seize in the calipers

I ride a 19″ normal mtb, but having sat on the mukluk featured in the mag (a 17″) it felt just right, so santa, if you’re reading, that’s the one I want
