Looks like they’ve settle on an £85million cap for 2010, dropping to £40m in 2011, and Dave Richards is still teasing people about whether he’s going for it.

    Excellent!

Prodrive have submitted their entry, as have Litespeed, Lola, Campos & (apparently) USGPE – that makes F1 oversubscribed for next year. Not sure about the 85M figure though – thought they were heading closer to 100-110M?

how exactly are they policeing the budget cap?

whats to stop IBM/SUNmicro/HP etc ‘donating’ computer and operator time for simulation work at a very nominal fee. Or Virgin giving brawn free transport?

Definately a good thing though! 100m puts it within reach of just about every large company so should see a lot of ‘smaller’ teams.

what happens if its oversubscribed then?

i suppose not all will actually make it to getting a team ready or will it be a return to pre-qualifying?

Just to be picky, the middle one doesn’t exist anymore and the latter haven’t got enough money of their own. HP pulled out of sponsoring (was it Williams?) a few years ago.

Can’t you find an anorak f1 site to debate this. Is this not an mtb forum???

no. I’m doing a study into mountain bikers interest in formula one management minutiae and so as a result this seems like a perfect place to do it, what with it being the number one MTB forum and that

Transportation to the circuits for the teams equipment is provided by Bernie and included in the cost of entry.

Is this not an mtb forum

No, it’s the Chat forum on a bike website.

I thought Bernie only paid for transporatation costs for the fly away races. The teams pay their own haulage in Europe.

Or adultery, or local authorities or…? If you want to be so selective remember where and what you’ve posted to in the past 😀

I think you’ll find the Coffee Lounge is for off topic chat i.e. not neccesarily about mountain bikes.

How about it get’s turned in to a stage race, start in Monaco with the prologue then race to each race track in Europe/Asia. The hop across to the US and the same there.

    Oui.

I didn’t realise transport costs were only to non-Europe races, still not bad an arrangement. I like the idea of a stage race for the transport crews. That’s how the trucks got racing in the Paris-Dakar.
