"Aims to cut fuel consumption and emissions" – what a crock. How about you put some energy into designing exciting exotic cars that don't have totally irrelevant 200mph+ performance? Something that is gorgeous and desirable and wonderful to drive at normal speeds could save a hell of a lot more fuel and emissions with just a much smaller engine! Use the technology to bring the weight down, use the marketing clout to revise expectations about what a performance car for public roads really means.
Nah, why should they? In comparison with a normal Ferarri it is more efficient, in comparison to a 1ltr super mini it's still a planet killer, if everyone was driving one it would be a problem, but only a handful of people can afford one and this wouldn't change if it was lighter and slower they would just sell a few less.
