just bought my 2nd dropper seatpost, a reverb (still getting over the shock of paying more for my seatpost than I did for my forks!) .... natural instinct to protect the seals etc from the crap is to clean it and spray it with WD40 ...... but seem to remember reading somewhere that this affects the seals .... does it?
any tips on what works well?

WD40's generally not good stuff. People get overexcited about it swelling seals, in reality that's not likely to happen but there's a lot of solvents in it and it's quite strongly penetrating, ie, will get past seals which you don't want.
What do Rockshox recommend? Do that.
I use for Lube on mine, and then have an inner tube strip from saddle to base to keep crap off the post
a drop of fork oil on the shaft, bounce it a few times then wipe away the excess, i have mine covered in a wet suit type material.
Just get some silicon spray from a diy shop - it's pretty inert so it shouldn't do any damage, unlike WD40/GT85. I just spray some on a paper towel, wipe the upper part (and my forks at the same time) and cycle it up and down a few times. Had my Hilo for a year now - no problems so far.

thought the WD40 idea might be a bad one. SRAM do a fork oil thats pretty cheap so might try that with a bit of innertube to start with until I can get my hands on some of that wet suit stuff ..... that even looks good as well.
