Having just got an ipad last week and looking for a way to get files onto it I discovered Dropbox:
For anyone who is constantly emailing files from one computer to another so they can work on stuff from more than one location Dropbox will be a pleasant find.
Makes me wonder what other great sites/services are out there that I need to check out!?
only problem with drop box is I that as far as we've found it's impossible to have more than one drop-box account per pc.
The only problem I have with Dropbox is that every time someone discovers it, they feel the need to pimp everyone they've ever met with their referrer code in order to get more space. For that reason, I'm oot.
It's a shame, because as far as I can tell it's a great service, but I don't use it on principle because of the user-aggressive marketing it promotes. I've been using Live Mesh for a while, which is a similar service from Microsoft.
What I like about Mesh is that it integrates with other accounts (eg, I can have a folder on my desktop called "Andrew" and when I copy stuff to it, it appears automagically on my mate Andrew's PC at home; makes it a breeze to send stuff to each other). What I don't like about it is being MS there's a shortage of clients for non-Windows phones.

cougar - nope, that's the "work around". Not great IMO.
When I found Mrs S had managed to add 3 new user accounts to her PC while trying to install dropbox...... grrrrr.

I can't imagine sharing a PC and not having my own account, even if it's just to avoid logging on and finding someone's enabled the Tellytubbies theme.
its not the login issue*, its that you cant sync multiple drop box accounts from a single login. i.e. for different businesses or personal (we run two companies from home)
*anyone touches my PC they swim with the fishes.
[hijack]cougar, while you#re here. I bricked my netbook and cant get my Bootable USB ver of XP to reinstall. How do you completely clean and revive an SSD? Also when installing an OS from ,say a USB, does the installation process change the files in anyway on the USB image?>[/hijack]

Only reason for posting it is that in the space of a week this has had a big positive effect on how and where I store my files. Also even the techno geeks at work and friends who I class as IT savvy had not come across dropbox before. N

hmm only 2gb free. 
Another fan of Mesh installed Windows Live out of curiosity and there's some great tools on there. 5Gb free too.

Ah, is that right? That's a bit of a showstopper if so. I upgraded it on my W7 box and had to set it all back up again, I've not done the XP machines yet. It's going in the bin if that's the case.
SugarSync I've heard of but not tried; I'll give it a go if I get shut of Mesh. For me, the killer app is the multi-user collaborative sharing, so I'd want something similar.
Am using Dropbox myself, although am only using it for a few 10's MB of stuff, but it's very handy for writing stuff over multiple computers.
It's also rather nice that it saves all the changes so that you can see all the times a document has changed, and then go back to a previous version if you need to.
I use Dropbox and pay extra for the 50GB allowance on top of the free + referrals I've built up. It backs up all the home documents across three macs and syncs important work files and backups too. Just gives me ease of file movement as well as a third level of backup.
I'm sure I could probably do it just as well and cheaper with rsync and some EC2 storage at Amazon but it wouldn't be as pretty to look at or easy to use if I want to share anything with colleagues etc...
I'd recommend it.
I use dropbox to transfer photos from my phone to my laptop, it's easier than moving the lead from the charger to the laptop. Great stuff.
