Looking for a touring chainset for the road bike.

Not keen on the usual road triples with 130 BCD chainrings, 52t outer is of no use to me. Even 39t middle is bordering on too big.

Does anyone make a decent svelte 110BCD (i.e. compact) chainset (ideally 48/38/28), or am I looking at dropping a chunky mountain bike one on with bigger chainrings?

    Ta.

Just get a compact 50/34 chainset with a wider ratio cassette?

105 ten speed triple is 50/39/30, still 130mm BCD but I would have thought with a wide spread cassette this would be low enough for most applications?

you can get smaller BCD tripples, my tourer has one. But its from a time before MTB chainsets. Best bet nowadays is to get a touring MTB chainset.

48-36-26 is surely exactly what your after?

Yes Stronglight. (Not sure the BCD is any different)

I'll have more of a poke around at those links.

The tart in me is trying to avoid putting Shimano cranks on a Campag setup (hence limited choice of lower cassette). Maybe a shiney silver Stylo with bigger rings might be okay with the style police….
