Jus taken on a new dog. We already have a dog, a boy with no bits. Jus taken on a bitch with no bits. She is being really antisocial and won't interact with our existing dog. It has only been a day but I wondered if anyone had any advice on how to get them to get on. Cheers in advance to anyone who can help.

If it's only a day in just give them time.

Your new dog is also still getting used to her new environment so give her a week to get used to your house and all the new smells etc.

You don't say how old they are as they may have not established who is top dog yet.

Maybe one good scrap and then they will decide who is boss and then thing will settle down as a good pair of mutts.

Imagine if you were put in a room with someone you didn't know maybe you would be a bit guarded too judging who was going to take the lead.

So in short give them time to settle and they'll be ok

'fraid you've got to let them sort out the hierachy by themselves

Take them for a good long walk to a place you usually dont take the other, neutal ground may help. Keep an eye on them dont leave them on there own and keep doors open to allow escape routes. Dont let them sort it out. Try not to worry it sounds fairly normal.

heirachy my arse, you been watching that stupid mexican twunt again?

You're the boss, you make the rules!
(unless you also have cats, then they make their own rules.)

walk them togther to socialise them, and walk them separately so they get their own time with you. They will sort themselves out.

we took on a jack russell bitch and it put my dobe's nose right out of joint (bitch as well) for about three weeks the little jack was allowed to rule the roost. One day she pushed my dobe one step too far and got ragged all over the garden, no real harm done and from then on they got on ok playing/fighting and sleeping togther.

If you were a cat owner you would have the inteligence to work it out yourself! 😉
