I think it depends if you want it to twist like spaghetti? love hate comes up a bit small for us -how about a P7 then? Really rigid, but still a bit of steel stuff going on?
Hello sponging machine, rode at the Qs with ya, talked bout eggesford woods for a ride, have you thought about the orange dealership in ya home town, see if they have a xxL p7!! personally i think ya need 32 inch wheels ,)
I’m 6’5″ too (though admittedly about 15kg lighter) and having tried lots of different SSs, now have an on-one 853 SS specific inbred as I found it fitted best and rides just how I like (fast handling without being scarily twitchy). I can’t see why being big means not being able to ride steel though as they’re not flexy inherently – only if they’re made of really noodly tubes which most modern ones (at least those designed for a 5″ fork) aren’t really.
I’ve tried 29ers and didn’t find them to my liking – they feel good over bumpy stuff and when climbing but always just feel that bit more cumbersome on the twisty stuff – enough to always make me think “I’d enjoy riding this more on a 26″ bike”.
