quick release is a quick release.

10mm and 12 mm are *probably* bolt thru. look like this.

    with a big threaded axle.

QR=9mm axle diameter. 10 and 12mm are generally bolt through sizes. 10mm was for early bolt through rear ends I can't think if anything new that still uses that size. 12mm comes in 135 (standard hub width in mm) and 150 (for dh/freeride bikes generally) widths. 150 rear end generally use an axle threaded at one end with an allen key socket in the other, I can't recall seeing any quite as agricultural as the one in the pic above!

From memory rear maxle is 135 x 12mm.

What bike do you have/what current wheel fixni system (QR, threaded axle etc)?

Std. Rear QR is 10mm (not 9mm as stated above, std. front QR is 9mm) With a std. rear 135mm dropout, you can either run a QR or 10mm bolt-up/bolt through axle. For 12mm axle you would need a specific frame/swingarm to run it.

i am building an intense uzzi dh
and it did have a QR wheel on it
but i was wondering what would be best on there for downhill riding

It's frame rather than like dependent I'm afraid. 150 x 12mm bolt through gives you the stiffest back end and wheel so is generally thought of as best for DH.

If you've got a QR frame already then a standard hub with bolt up rather than QR axle will be your best.
