I'm going to be made redundant in about a month, i'm planning to spend part of my payout on a new steed and i need your advice. I have a decent technical understanding but I'm pretty lost when it comes to choosing bikes.
I currently have a XC hardtail rig with 100m of suspension, this is fine for most stuff but I live near some great downhill and play areas and my current bike is a bit too XC for this.
So, I'm looking for something that will soak up anything i throw at it whilst still being a decent bike to ride back up the hill, that said I'm not looking for something to clock a century on or anything.
Currently I've seen two that look to be quite nice...
Giant Reign X
Trek Scratch Air 9
I'm a shallow man and I'm love with the way the Trek looks but a recent review in singletrack magazine favoured the giant, also it has the lockout feature which i quite like.
What other bikes i should consider?
