*random comment about the dubious efficacy of carbon when used on a bicycle component*

I’d have pushed for one more lap.

if a component i owned did that after one ride, especially a bling one, i’d be looking for some shoes to wee in pretty sharpish

Carbon jockey wheels? WTF did you expect to happen?

Carbon is a very bad material for abrasive wear!

I only did two laps!! Just bought a new mech with ‘proper’ wheels in, almost as cheap as buying new wheels.

not when designed for the purpose. F1 and high performance road car carbon / ceramic brakes? Obviously here a £10 set of plastic wheels would be better 🙂

I did some pretty expensive repairs to 2 bikes last night following my 4 laps at D2D.
Never seen pad/chainring/jockey wheel wear quite like it.

True, but carbon ceramic is not the same as carbon fibre.

EDIT – which is probably the point you were making…..

Need to give my bike a proper going over at the weekend. Front & rear pads gone & somehow the front rotor has eaten into the caliper! Taken about 0.2-0.3mm of material off, at a guess.

Will be giving my forks a lower leg service too, as I am paranoid about potential Fox stanchion wear issues!

I’ve not even looked at my bike since the weekend. Might get it out this afternoon to inspect that damage. Not looking forward to seeing how much needs replacing

I thought they were a disposable one-race item?

    Cheap SLX groupsets at wollyhat.
    Bit heavy but looks indestructible.
