Utter scum went in through the roof proper specialist job they knew where sensors etc were someone clearly been in there acting as a customer to know that much detail ….. Think they are posting a list soon of all nicked was a lovely bright red orange five 29er custom with pikes , sram roam wheels and xx1 kit if that’s sold it will stand out like a sore thumb, eyes peeled folks

They had to leave 2 spesh 4.6k bikes cos they knew they’d trigger the alarm off so, properly been sourced out that’s for sure

The problem with a lot of bike shops is lack of investment in security, cctv with secure data storage, decent roller shutters, anti ram bars on windows and doors, and monitored alarms, not just a bell box outside.

But then the prices would need to go up to pay for it all.

no mate, they got in through the roof and knew exactly where the sensors/cameras were to NOT set the alarm off, properly planned as the area in question is the only bit not covered by a sensor, no way of getting to said area without setting off the alarm, unless of course you come in through the ceiling 🙁

proper planned job clearly a gang doing it other places too

Ex employee? That level of details sounds more than just some scoping of the premises acting as customers.

    Jesus! 😮

I grew up very close to Congleton and know this shop – safe to say there are quite a large number of scummers in and around that area. I wonder if they are off to Europe to try and shift the bikes…?

Deserve to be locked away for a very long time – I trust our fine justice system will simply give them a slap on the wrist however…if they even get caught.

nah dont think so chunky really dont think so, most of the staff that work there have worked there for 10 years plus, the shop staff have been there since day 1

ive seen unsavoury sorts in there before, but the staff cant treat them any differently i guess really as its there job, and not everyone is as they appear, but at some point a person/persons has seriously sourced the area in question out

i’d be surprised if its a local job, i think its more like a group/gang from manchester way TBH its been done this way before up manchester way, and cyclestore has never been touched, basically im saying that they could have done this years ago, and the fact the people who did clearly have done it before, it wasnt there first time doing this thats for sure, it was pretty precisionally done, not just some random skag head, would have taken several people at least

Royles in Wilmslow got done through the roof a few years back – someone had been in the shop to tape over some sensors apparently. Seem to remember that most bikes were recovered though. Manchester area is not short of monobrows though…

Called in there a few times – nice shop and seemingly decent staff. Shame!

I think I better warn Kev in the shop in Leek. He’s got an upstairs full of bikes now.

Yes sorry… I don’t hold grudges for long. I doubt people with their mental capacity could plan such a heist anyway.

I really don’t want to be pedantic(but I’m doing a good job it would seem). Can someone please clarify,

Was the shop in question ROBBED or BURGLED?

Well I live in Congleton and support my local LBS and would like to remind you Kedmun there’s more decent folk than scummers in the area !

These were professional criminals who did this imo who don’t have morals as has most decent folk and I doubt you’ll see any of those bikes being offered locally in or around Congleton and more than likely live well out of the area.
