The barrel on my lock appears to have gone meaning the bike had to be abandoned at work. Looks like I'm going to have to cut it off. Any hints or tips? It's a kryptonite lock so I guess its going to a git to get through.

Car jack and force it open, an angle grinder or freeze it with some liquid nitrogen and it hit it with a hammer. You do have liquid nitrogen lying around for just this eventuality don't you 🙂

In this weather I'd also give it a fairly hefty dose of gt85 or similar to make sure it isn't frozen up.

Angle grinder with cutting discs, they are around 1mm thin and cut through the locks like a knife through butter, very scary to think how quick it is to get it off.

Just be very careful of your frame, one slip and its a write off!

Oh and I sent my old lock back to the supplier afterwards and they exchanged it for a new one.

It's a d lock. Might just be in range of a plug. Will take the tools in tommorrow and give it a go. I've already stripped the parts of to be safe :). Otherwise need someone with a petrol grinder.

as its a d-lock i would go in with a car jack and pop it open.

wedge the jack between the U and the bar. make sure you dont catch the frame!

Dremel and hack saw went through it fairly quickly in the end. Now how to get two bikes home without a car! 😀
