Won't the rear wheel hit the seat tube?

if you know what you're doing then I don't see why not.
or if it's a shock with a longer eye to eye but same stroke you could simply have a shuttle/adapter made.

but if he knew what he was doing, he'd be doing it, not posting here eh?

the rear wheel wont hit the seat tube. its a faux bar design. it has 50mm stroke and current one has 38mm.

how is that going to help, if anything it makes matters worse as your pivoting arround a fixed point, which will be a short radius for a short travel bike.
38mm shocks are found on 4" bikes usualy, how do you intend to make a XC bike cope with as much travel as a DH bike? And why would you want it to?
A 50mm shock giving 180mm travel will be like riding arround on a pogo stick, 3.6:1 actuation ratio, you may as well put in a tennis ball instead of the shock.
If you still want to do it, and go to a CNC place, expect to pay in the region of £300-£500 for a one off and your going to need to design it yourself.

50mm would be 6.25"

TINS - it'd be possible to have pretty much the same travel and geometry with the longer shock and new plates.

Jesus, you go to some pretty pricey machine shops. Pair of 10mm thick plates for something like an NRS would set you back about £50 at my local place, inc material!

A: being stupid
What is it you are trying to achieve?

need new shock from my suntour epicon. getting a manitou 4 way air and the i-to-i is slightly longer by 5mm
Posted 1 year ago # -
it will be considerably easier/cheaper just to get a shock with the right length and stroke.

It might fit anyway. Just test with no air in it, see if the shock bottoms out before the frame does.

getting the manitou 4 way air for £60. I put a post for a 165mm but no one came back to me. well i test it next week and if it works, good. or it be on here
