    Hello,

looking to get a bright commuting light and have seen the Hope Vision 1 for an OK price – any good or am I better off sticking a DX torch or THAT £50 bike version on my bars?

Also thought about th MiNewt USB light.

It's for unllit commute rather than full on night riding, will be used with a flashing light for visibility.

I used a Vision 1 for about 18 months of commuting. It's great but the biggest problem is the sudden darkness you are plunged into when the batteries die as there is no warning light to indicate low charge.

There's better alternatives out there i'm sure. Useful as a torch though!

I use THAT £50 bike version, it rocks for commuting and there are no fussy bike mounts

Not great as batteries just die without warning, and the beam is very focused into a central spot. Unless oncoming cars are directly head on trying to ram you, rather than on the opposite side of road, visibility is not great.
