I don’t look at this website much anymore but I’m glad I did this morning. You brought a (very cheaply achieved) smile to my face snakie. Now assume the position while they get ready to ram the pitch forks, there’s a good man 🙂

just save yourself the time and hassle, and throw your recycling into a ditch, then set fire to it.

Don’t forget to stab a cow in the throat on your way home.

it all adds up to the same thing in the end.

    😉

    What awhiles said.

Whilst they are becoming popular, understandably, they are very dangerous to cattle who try to eat the wire bits, getting them stuck in their throats then either dying or suffering an awful lot of pain.

I live in a rural area and have seen it.

Plus, why send airborne trash all over the country? It’s no different than chucking McDonalds wrappers out your car window.

Wasn’t there a thread about this subject on here a wee while ago? Anyone have a link?

Seems to be an increasing amount of debris in the countryside due to these. 🙁

Seems to be an increasing amount of debris in the countryside due to these.

And an increasing level of pollution in the air, speshly near roads…

It’s no different than chucking McDonalds wrappers out your car window.

Do you genuinely not see the irony in that statement?

    Waste of money, littering, dangerous.

There is a UK company supposedly making more environmentally friendly ones but IMO the whole concept of people using them anywhere other than in ancient China when they were invented and had real meaning is stupid.

Hundreds on ebay/Amazon, have bought a few in the past off various ebay sellers, none of them have had any metal wire in them. I didn’t think they were allowed to use metal wire in them anymore? 😕

Yup nowt better than clearing up other peoples shite from my back garden!
Had a few of them land after new year. Think the best one was the one on fire that was blowing down the road 😯
    What’s the point of them???

The new ones should be wire free, to conply with regs.
Also remember if letting off a large number (10+) near the coast or and airport or flight path then to advise the relevant people.

I use them in school to help teach about convection. I tether them with a kite line though, to retrieve them easily.

Previously however, before I really considered all the environmental implications I have loosed a few off over plymouth Sound, others above Surrey and one or two have floated away over deepest darkest Brecon Beaconshire. I’m damned 🙁

Well paying in dollars is no good; it’s the wrong flippin’ currency!

Unless you live in the US or Australia or Canada, or other countries which use the word ‘dollar’ to describe their currency.

Then, it would of course be perfectly acceptable.

Nearly lost both my cars to one of those stupid things at New Year. Line of them came straight over the airport to my flat, caught the top of the flat block tiping it over causing a ball of fire to land right between my two motors. I managed to get out there before either were damaged but must be easy for them to cause fires.

Seem to cause more problems than they’re worth.

Wow, I sound old and grumpy today – I am!
